You know, I'm really loving the invention of the DVD. I can now I start my new year's resolution of cleaning my apartment by tossing my old recorded off the TV TV shows!

This being one of them. The owners of the company I work for gave all of us a little after Christmas Christmas bonus. It wasn't that much, but enough that I am now the proud owner of almost the entire X-Files collection on DVD! (still need seasons 8 &9 but I'm still debating. I didn't really enjoy the last two seasons, so I may go the second hand route again). Needless to say, I bought two seasons second hand and two new. Now my Jewish guilt comes back to haunt me...here's why:

I probably should have spent the money in a more practical manner...
1. Pay Bills...no wait, they're all paid up to date..and my line of credit will be gone by August at the rate I'm going. I owe nothing on my Visa!

2. Buy new clothes. I'm a weird in-between size so shopping is generally no fun for me. It's either way way to big, or my cookie induced hips make it impossible to do things up. Scratch that for now.

3. Music, I haven't bought a new cd for two months now. I must be slipping. (ok, so this isn't really practical, but I digress).
4. Buy the Superdog some tasty yummies. No, wait...I ALWAYS buy him tasty yummies, it's in the budget!
So forgive me oh great guilt gods for purchasing the DVD's of the one show I connected so much with. I remember when it was on Friday nights, I stayed at home. Sunday nights too when they moved it. I had no life, but I lived for Scully and Mulder. And now, as I visit the two of them again, I'm reminded that even though I was a non-social misfit during those 9 seasons, I was so very happy.

New Year's Resolutions

Purge Closet of clothes not seen the light of day since 1997

Reduce Chotchkes (for those who do not know, chotchkes are dust collectors, and no, I will not be reducing my Breyer collection.)

Learn how to vacuum (I have fuzz bunnies on the covering that I think used to be carpet that could feasibly take over the world.)

Learn how to dust - (I know this is a stretch for me, but I need to promise to do this!)

Make my apartment look like an Ikea showroom and not like a frat girl lives here.

Spend less time with Mr. Computer and more time with Mr. Quincy (he'll appreciate that.)

Find a Dean Cain look-alike to do my personal bidding whilst doing his duties as my pool boy (speedo optional)...okay, this one's a stretch, but a girl's gotta dream right?

Part 2 to follow.......

Merry Almost Christmakah!

I'm sure by now most of you (well, the only one person I know who reads this blog) are sick to death of seeing that freakish big headed creature's picture, so I'm putting it out of it's misery.

I'm officially done my shopping and proud of myself that I didn't spend too much money! I'm not sure if I'll have time to actually enjoy the holiday season, since I'll only have Christmas Day and Boxing Day off. I work on Christmas Eve in the afternoon, but I'm going to have some nog with my friend and co-worker Jen at her house after we finish. Then I'm off to pick up my Quincy and head off to mom's house for the evening.

Quincy knows he's getting something yummy since he keeps staring at the closet. All my un-wrapped presents are in there. Akkk, I have to wrap them. Life would be less fun for others but so much easier for me if wrapping were outlawed.

I'm the worst wrapper ever! My friend Lorena is a pro. Her edges are perfect and she makes her own bows and ribbons. Martha Stewart has nothing on this gal.

Me, well, my corners are crooked and bunchy, and sometimes ripped. Tape is my salvation. Is there a course I can take????

Bratz Hell

On Friday, I spent an interesting couple of hours toodling around Chinook Mall in search of a Bratz doll on my god-daughter's Christmas list. Photo courtesy of the Sears website...(P.S. Sears don't sue me, I have no money!)

I have to admit, I'm a Barbie Girl..no, stop singing the damned song...I prefer them over these big headed, freakishly small bodied, overly made up creatures. But since I'm old and not in the "now", I should refrain from saying too much.

So here I am, looking at the Bay first off. Wall to wall Bratzitude! So many to choose from and all on sale, which me already being in hell was certainly enough to make this excursion at least bearable. So she wants "Diamonds Forever Sheridan". No luck here. They had all the other characters except this one. Did you know this particular doll is really really pricey? Of course you didn't, it's not like you shop for these in your everyday life...but I'm digressing here...

Anyways, I checked out two other stores before going back to the Bay, since their selection was far superior to the other stores.

I wandered, back and forth, trying to reconcile buying her one of these odd dolls. I padded over to the Barbies and briefly considered getting a Fashion Fever doll for her, but the ones they had were fairly plain, and one even had really twisty squished eyes...like her poor head got jammed in the stamper or something. Back to the Bratz wall. Seriously, they were piled from floor to ceiling...Punk rock, Hollywood, Glitter, Rock Star, Cowboy, Orange or Green legged...whatever...I have no idea...

I found one on sale though, and although the size of her noggin is rather jarring, she did have cute accessories and a dog! I know it's not the one she really really wanted, but I figured this one would appeal to her. I also found some other associated goodies to include in her stocking to go with.

Side note...did you know that this doll's shoes ARE her feet? You take off her shoes and she's left with these little stumps!

Quincy says HI! He's snoring up a storm on the couch right now, wiggling in his dreams, which is something I should be doing right about now..well except for the wiggling part.
